Your Plan

Set your short and long-term goals.

You're unique.
So are your goals.

Start with the worksheet below called "My Ukulele Personality."  This will help to determine what you’re hoping to accomplish here at The Ukulele Way.  Then, based on those results, set long-term goals and come up with short-term action items to get you there.

My Ukulele Personality

Decide on what's most important to you as a ukulele player.  Then identify your strengths and weaknessess as a musician.  Finally, commit to setting apart some time for ukulele practise in your weekly schedule.  Come back to this worksheet periodically to make sure it's current and scroll down for tips on interpreting your answers.

My Ukulele Goals

Assess five key aspects of your performance (melody, harmony, rhythm, tone and expression).  Rate each on a four-point scale to identify areas of strength and weakness and to determine whether you're ready to move on to the next piece of repertoire.

Interpreting Your Answers

What were your top two priorities from your "My Ukulele Personality" worksheet? Those should be your main focus. Below is a guide to choosing a learning path that aligns with your priorities.

Brain Builder

Improving your technique and your understanding of music theory is a priority for you.

Focus on the fundamentals of solo ukulele technique from Book 1 and Book 2.  Focus especially on understanding and applying interlaced and synchronous techniques. Choose a repertoire-based learning pathway in addition to Skills & Technique so that you have the opportunity to apply your skills.

Recommended learning path: Reading & Music Theory

Heart Hero

Fostering mental and physical health through ukulele study is your priority.

Follow the Mellow Moods & Lyrical Lines learning pathway. Playing lyrically (i.e. creating a flowing, connected melody line) is one of the biggest challenges for the solo ukulele player. Lyrical pieces are easy on the hands and sound very relaxing. There are many repertoire selections in The Ukulele Way that are perfectly suited for this.

Recommended learning path: Mellow Moods

Social Butterfly

Your priority is to connect with like-minded people all over the world.

Spend time in the Uketropolis Community and participate in the discussions below each lesson. Learn songs that invite participation by others. Remember, the best way to connect on Uketropolis is to post encouraging comments, replying to questions and offering constructive feedback.
